About {site}
Africa News Hub is a pan-African news hub: one front page for the whole continent and a dedicated newsroom for each of Africa's 54 countries.
Who we are
Africa News Hub brings the news of Africa together in one place. Instead of visiting dozens of websites, readers can see what is happening in Nairobi, Lagos, Cairo, Kinshasa, Addis Ababa, Johannesburg or Dakar at a glance, in their own language, and then go straight to the original report. We do not write the news ourselves: we help readers find it, and we help the newsrooms that produce it reach more people.
What you will find here
- Africa front page – the day's breaking and trending headlines from across the continent, picked from the freshest and most-read stories, with no single country or outlet allowed to crowd the rest out.
- 54 country newsrooms – every country has its own website section with its own flag, colours and logo, filled mainly with stories from that country's own newspapers, TV and radio stations, plus wider headlines about the country from other sources.
- International news – headlines from leading world broadcasters and newspapers such as BBC, CNN, Al Jazeera, DW, France 24, CGTN and Sky News, so readers can compare how the world covers Africa and itself.
- Live TV – a scrolling bar of live news channels, local and international, that you can drag with your finger or mouse and watch in a pop-up window without leaving the site.
- Weather – a moving band showing the current weather in African capitals.
- Classifieds and advertising – a place to post small ads (property, vehicles, jobs, services and more) and to book banner advertising that reaches readers in one country or across the whole continent. Prices are in US dollars.
- Your language – the interface is available in 15 languages, including English, French, Arabic, Portuguese, Spanish, Swahili, Hausa, Amharic, Fula, Pidgin English, Zulu, Somali, Oromo, Wolof and Malagasy. Each country opens in its own main language and you can change it at any time from the top bar.
How the news gets here
Our system checks hundreds of publicly available news feeds (RSS) every few minutes. For each story we show the headline, the name of the publisher, the time it was published, a picture when the publisher provides one, and a short excerpt taken from the story. Click Click to read the full story and the publisher's own page opens in a window on this website; if the publisher does not allow its page to be shown inside another website, you can open it in a new tab with one click. Every story therefore leads back to the original newsroom, which keeps the credit, the readers and the advertising revenue it deserves.
Our editorial approach
- We are an aggregator: headlines, excerpts, pictures and videos belong to their respective publishers and are shown with a link to the original.
- Stories are ranked by freshness and reader interest, not by political or commercial preference. Advertising never changes what is shown in the news sections, and paid banners are always labelled Advertisement.
- Some headlines may be machine-translated when you read the site in a language other than the original; such headlines can contain errors, so open the story for the original wording.
- We do not verify every story. The accuracy of a report is the responsibility of the publisher that produced it.
For publishers and newsrooms
Being listed here means more readers for you. If you would like your outlet added, or if you would prefer that it not be included, or if a headline, picture or excerpt should be corrected or removed, write to marto200x@hotmail.com and we will respond promptly. You can also ask us to feature your live stream in our Live TV bar.
For advertisers
Reach readers in one country or across Africa with banner advertising: side banners, in-page banners, leaderboards and in-feed placements. You choose the placement and the duration, upload your banner and pay online (card, PayPal or SteadFast). Visit the Advertise page for the current price list.
