Lobby Groups Raise Alarm Over False Charges Targeting Activists
Kilifi-based land and environmental rights defender Peter Komora is expected to appear before the Kilifi Law Courts on Monday, November 9, for sentencing following his conviction in a wildlife trophies case. In a statement issued on Saturday, November 7, the National Coalition of Human Rights Defenders called on human rights organisations, civil society groups and other partners to attend the proceedings in solidarity with him. “Defenders Coalition stands in solidarity with Peter Komora, an environmental human rights defender (HRD) from Kilifi County who awaits sentencing on Monday, 9 November 2026, at Kilifi Law Courts,” the statement read.
