Kofi Wayo: Ghanaian politician and United Renaissance Party founder dies at 71
Ghanaian politician, businessman and United Renaissance Party founder Charles Eric Kofi Wayo, popularly known as "Chuck", has died in Accra. He was 71. He died in the early hours of Saturday, November 7, at Nyaho Medical Centre in Accra. His family has not yet announced funeral arrangements or a cause of death. Wayo built a national profile over two decades through blunt, unscripted commentary on governance, economic hardship and corruption across party lines. In March 2016, he praised then-President John Dramani Mahama on 3FM's Sunrise Morning Show for having "feelings for the Ghanaian people".
