Cocaine busts: It's surprising that scanners at Ghana's airport can't detect cocaine but detect canned drinks and perfumes - Kwarteng

A member of the communications team of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwasi Kwarteng, has expressed concerns about the inability of the scanners at the Accra International Airport to detect cocaine before it is taken out of the country. He makes the point that the scanners are able to detect items such as power banks, canned drinks and perfumes, but it is surprising that they are unable to detect hidden cocaine in bugs. "The scanners are able to identify cans, but cannot identify the cocaine; it is surprising. The government may not be complicit, but the posturing of the government is problematic," he said on the Key Points on TV3 Saturday, November 7.
