Responding to public fears of a curve up by Libya’s ruling elite, the House of Representatives issued an official statement yesterday confirmed that the study on transitioning from commodity-based fuel subsidies to a cash-based subsidy system is among the reform options being considered to address economic imbalances. The House emphasized that this approach does not imply the immediate abolition or replacement of subsidies.
