With a number of leading teams missing some key players, the Springboks are ideally placed to mount a really strong bid for glory in the tournament. Springbok coach Rassie Erasmus went out of his way this week to praise his opposite number in Italy, Gonzalo Quesada, ahead of the Nations Championship clash between South Africa and the Azurri in Turin on Saturday, 7 November 2026. Since taking the coaching reins in 2024, Quesada has guided Italy to landmark wins against Australia, Scotland and England while adopting an Erasmus-like approach towards depth-building across all the respective positions.
