Kampala Cooperative Women’s SACCO Organises Charity Run for Vulnerable Women in Slums
The Kampala Cooperative Women’s SACCO has organised a charity marathon to raise funds to support vulnerable women living in the slums of Katanga, Bwaise and Mulago by providing them with basic necessities. The inaugural event, dubbed Run for the Needy, attracted more than 300 participants, with athletes, young people, adults and older people joining the run in support of the cause. Speaking at the event, SACCO founder Irene Nasuuna said the initiative was driven by the desire to improve the welfare of economically disadvantaged women living in the three communities.
