Addis Abeba Charges Bidders for E-tender Files
Manual tenders have long carried a reputation for favouring the connected and obscuring the procurement trail. The Addis Abeba City Administration is betting that moving transactions onto a digital platform will leave less room for deals outside official channels. The city has 217 public administrative agencies, and if the 54 newcomers join on schedule, about half will be on the platform by the end of the fiscal year. The Administration aspires to bring all government institutions onto e-GP by 2030. Bidders for Addis Abeba's public contracts now have to pay before they can download tender documents.
