Ghana Medical Trust Fund: what Parliament approved and what officials say has been delivered

The Ghana Medical Trust Fund has a GH¢2.90 billion allocation for 2026, a published law, and an official account of patients and equipment that still leaves large gaps. The hashtags #MahamaCares and #ObuobiaDelivers trended on X on November 4 and 5, during an Eastern Region tour by the Fund's Administrator, Adjoa Obuobia Darko-Opoku. She told a town hall in Koforidua that the Eastern Regional Hospital would receive a digital mammography machine, ultrasound and endoscopy machines, chemotherapy suits and 10 patient monitors by December. A dialysis machine was requested by the hospital's medical director, Dr Sananwie Suntaa Aiden. The Fund's account of the meeting records no response to that request.
