Egypt Reaffirms Rejection of Turkey-Libya Maritime Deal
Egypt has reiterated its rejection of the 2019 maritime memorandum of understanding between Turkey and Libya, saying it considers the agreement legally invalid and without effect on its maritime rights. Egyptian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nader Zaki told *Al-Ahram Online* that Cairo’s position had remained unchanged since 2019, arguing that the memorandum failed to comply with the rules governing exclusive economic zones and continental shelves and infringed on Egypt’s rights in the eastern Mediterranean.
