Somaliland police launch operation against electricity firms over tariff dispute
Hargeisa (HOL) — Somaliland police launched an operation Monday night against several electricity companies accused of violating government directives on power tariffs, escalating a months-long dispute between authorities and private electricity providers over proposed price increases. Police said the operation followed the companies’ failure to appear before the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) despite repeated summonses over alleged violations of a presidential directive and instructions issued by the Somaliland Energy Regulatory Commission.
